Went to visit Dad today. He still recognized me and Tony, and asked about the girls. We brought him a slice of cheesecake from a local diner, which he enjoyed. He couldn’t really hold much of a conversation beyond that. He had Covid a couple of weeks ago and lost a bitch of weight. He still looks really thin.
Be has been falling a lot lately. They have given him a special type of walker to use when he wanders around to help prevent falls.
Had a call with his doctor and psychiatrist last week. They said they were surprised he was still mobile at all, considering how long he has been there. Usually, people within six months end up in hospice. That being said, his prognosis is still less than a year.
Once he is no longer mobile, I will be transferring him to hospice closer to where I live.
It was a difficult visit today. It saddens me knowing his mind is leaving him when it was what made him special.
